# CameraWorth

> CameraWorth is a UK encyclopaedia and pricing reference for cameras, lenses and photographic equipment. It catalogues 32,064 models and holds 55,843 recorded sold prices covering 8,611 of them, collected from 13 auction houses and eBay. Every price is the result of a sale that happened — a lot that sold in a saleroom, or a listing that closed on eBay. We do not publish estimates, and we do not publish asking prices as if they were sold prices. The records run from 1998 to 2026.

Published by Camley Photographic Limited (registered in England and Wales, company number 08205572), a camera dealer that also sells on consignment. That is the obvious reason to doubt the prices, so it is disclosed here and at the top of the methodology page rather than in a footer.

## Catalogue structure

- [Letter index, example L](https://www.cameraworth.com/l/): every brand whose name starts with that letter, at `/{letter}/`.
- Brand pages at `/{letter}/{brand}/` — every model by one maker, with sale counts and price ranges.
- Model pages at `/{letter}/{brand}/{model}/` — description, specifications, the full list of recorded sales, and the current valuation. Variants are rows on the model page, addressable as `#variant-{name}`.
- Each model page carries schema.org `Product` JSON-LD with the median, the sample size and the period the sales cover.

## Limits on the prices

- Coverage is uneven: 8,611 of 32,064 models have any price data. The set leans to what specialist salerooms sell — Leica, Hasselblad, Rollei and the collectable end.
- Price bases are mixed. Most auction records are hammer prices; 13% of the set is premium-inclusive; some houses do not state a basis. Figures are not strictly comparable house to house.
- 39% of records are in a currency other than sterling and each sale row shows the sum actually paid, in its own currency. Published averages, ranges and medians are in GBP, converted at the ECB reference rate for the sale month; 232 records carry no derivable sterling figure and are excluded from those statistics rather than counted unconverted.
- No adjustment is made for condition, which is the largest single source of spread in any figure here.
- Auction results are not retail prices, and the market covered is predominantly British and European.
