Asahi Pentax 18mm f/11 · Super-Takumar Fisheye

{"overview":"The Asahi Pentax Super-Takumar 18mm f\/11 Fisheye is an ultra-wide fisheye lens for the M42 screw mount, dating from the classic Takumar era. With its fixed f\/11 aperture and compact construction, it was designed as a specialist optic for photographers needing a curvilinear ultra-wide perspective on Pentax SLR bodies.","market_narrative":"Sales data for this lens is extremely thin: a single recorded UK saleroom result from March 2022 saw one sell for £94 at hammer (wholesale level, before commissions). With only one data point, that figure is the only concrete reference for what the lens is worth in today's auction market in 2026, and the true going price could vary widely depending on condition and completeness of accessories.","buying_guide":"Inspect the front and rear elements carefully for fungus, haze and coating scratches, all of which are common on Takumar-era glass and particularly visible on a deeply curved fisheye front element. Check that the focus helicoid turns smoothly without stiffness or grease migration, and confirm the M42 thread engages cleanly; because the aperture is fixed at f\/11 there are no diaphragm blades to worry about, but verify the lens is complete and undamaged.","specs":"Key documented specifications are limited: an 18mm focal length, a fixed f\/11 aperture, fisheye projection, and an M42 screw mount consistent with the Super-Takumar line.","faq":[{"q":"What is a Super-Takumar 18mm f\/11 Fisheye worth today?","a":"The only recorded UK auction sale in our data sold for £94 hammer in 2022, so that price is the best available reference for value, though a single result is not a reliable median."},{"q":"How much does a Super-Takumar 18mm f\/11 Fisheye sell for at UK auction?","a":"Based on the limited sales history available, a copy has sold for around £94 at hammer, excluding buyer's and seller's commission."},{"q":"What mount does this fisheye lens use?","a":"It uses the M42 screw mount used across the Super-Takumar range, allowing it to fit Pentax Spotmatic-era bodies and other M42 cameras."},{"q":"Does the lens have an adjustable aperture?","a":"No, the aperture is fixed at f\/11, which is reflected in the model name and means there are no diaphragm blades to inspect for oil."}],"confidence":30,"reasoning":"Only one sales record and no detailed specs or variant facts were supplied, so confidence is capped low per the rules."}
