Asahi Pentax 35mm f/4 · Takumar

{"overview":"The Asahi Pentax Takumar 35mm f\/4 is a manual-focus wide-angle prime lens from the early M42 screw-mount era, designed for Asahi Pentax SLR bodies. It is a moderate wide-angle optic intended for general-purpose landscape, architectural, and reportage work on 35mm film cameras.","market_narrative":"UK auction data is thin for this Takumar, with one recorded hammer result of £88 in 2022 — a saleroom figure that excludes buyer's and seller's commission and reflects the wholesale level rather than dealer retail asking prices. With only a single data point on record as of 2026, the lens's worth is hard to pin down precisely, but clean copies tend to sell for two-figure sums at UK auction rather than the higher prices commanded by faster Takumar wide-angles.","buying_guide":"Inspect the front and rear elements for fungus, haze, and cleaning marks, and check the aperture blades for oil migration that can slow the diaphragm. Confirm the focus helicoid turns smoothly without grinding or stiffness, look for separation or coating scratches on the internal elements, and verify the M42 thread is undamaged so the lens mounts square to the body.","specs":"Specifications on file are limited: a 35mm focal length, maximum aperture of f\/4, and an M42 screw mount consistent with the Asahi Pentax Takumar lens line.","faq":[{"q":"What is an Asahi Pentax Takumar 35mm f\/4 worth today?","a":"On the limited UK auction record available, a copy hammered at £88 in 2022, so current value at saleroom level is likely in a similar two-figure range subject to condition."},{"q":"How much does a Takumar 35mm f\/4 sell for at UK auction?","a":"The only recorded hammer price in the dataset is £88, which is the wholesale auction figure before buyer's and seller's commission."},{"q":"Is the Takumar 35mm f\/4 a collectible lens?","a":"It is a usable vintage M42 wide-angle rather than a headline collector's piece, and the modest price it sells for reflects that practical, user-grade status."},{"q":"What should I check before buying one?","a":"Prioritise optical clarity (no fungus, haze, or separation), clean and snappy aperture blades free of oil, smooth focus action, and an undamaged M42 thread."}],"confidence":35,"reasoning":"Confidence is low because SPECS are empty, no variants or facts are supplied, and SALES HISTORY contains only a single 2022 record."}
