Asahi Pentax 75mm f/4.5 (6x7) · SMC Takumar

{"overview":"The Super-Multi-Coated Takumar 6x7 75mm F4.5 is a wide-angle prime lens for the Asahi Pentax 6x7 medium format SLR system, using the breech-lock 6x7 mount. It dates from the SMC Takumar generation that introduced multi-coating to the 6x7 line, and was designed for landscape, architecture and general wide-field photography on the 6x7 format.","market_narrative":"Sales evidence is thin: the only logged UK auction hammer result is £160 from April 2023, which sets the available reference point for what this lens sells for at saleroom level today rather than at retail. With a single data point the price range and median both sit at £160, so buyers should treat that figure as indicative wholesale value and expect dealer asking prices to run higher once commission and margin are added.","buying_guide":"Inspect the front and rear elements for fungus, haze and cleaning marks, since the large front group on 6x7 Takumars is prone to internal haze with age. Work the aperture ring and check the blades for oil migration, then run the focus through its full travel to confirm it is smooth rather than stiff or sticky, and look closely at the multi-coating for scratches or wipe marks that would knock the value down.","specs":"Key specifications from the supplied data are limited to a 75mm focal length, an f\/4.5 maximum aperture, the Pentax 6x7 medium-format mount and SMC (Super-Multi-Coated) optical treatment.","faq":[{"q":"What is a Super-Multi-Coated Takumar 6x7 75mm F4.5 worth today?","a":"Based on the limited UK auction record available, a clean copy is worth around £160 at hammer, though only one verified sale supports that value."},{"q":"How much does a Takumar 6x7 75mm F4.5 sell for at UK auction?","a":"The single logged UK auction result shows the lens sold for £160 in April 2023, which is the only reliable price reference in the data."},{"q":"Is the SMC Takumar 6x7 75mm F4.5 a wide-angle lens?","a":"Yes, on the Pentax 6x7 medium format the 75mm focal length acts as a moderate wide-angle, broadly equivalent to a 37–38mm lens on 35mm film."},{"q":"What should I check before buying one?","a":"Prioritise checks for fungus, internal haze, oil on the aperture blades, coating scratches and smooth focus travel, as these are the common faults that depress the price of older 6x7 Takumars."}],"confidence":35,"reasoning":"Confidence is low because SPECS and variant data are empty and only one sales record is available, leaving the market_narrative supported by a single data point."}
