Balda-werk Super Baldax

{"overview":"The Super Baldax is a folding rangefinder camera produced by Balda-Werk, a German maker active in the mid-20th century. With only one data point, today's value at saleroom level should be treated as indicative rather than a reliable price; condition, shutter function and bellows integrity will move the figure substantially in either direction.","buying_guide":"Folding rangefinders of this vintage commonly suffer from pinholes in the bellows, sluggish or sticky leaf shutters, hazy or separated rangefinder optics, and lens haze or fungus. Inspect the bellows in a darkened room with a torch inside, fire the shutter at all speeds, and check that the rangefinder patch is visible and aligned.
