Cosina 19-35mm f/3.5 · MC Zoom

{"overview":"The Cosina 19-35mm f\/3.5-4.5 MC Zoom is a third-party wide-angle zoom lens with a variable maximum aperture of f\/3.5 to f\/4.5 and multi-coated optics. Cosina produced this design in several mounts during the autofocus SLR era, where it was aimed at amateur photographers wanting an affordable ultra-wide to standard-wide zoom range.","market_narrative":"Auction data for this lens is extremely thin: the only verified UK saleroom record we have is a hammer price of £12 in March 2023, which gives a single data point rather than a meaningful range or median. As of today in 2026, that result suggests clean copies sell for very modest sums at auction, and because hammer prices reflect wholesale levels achieved in the saleroom, retail dealer asking prices will typically sit higher. Without further sales it is not possible to confirm whether specific mount variants command any premium.","buying_guide":"Inspect the front and rear elements for fungus, haze and cleaning marks, since multi-coated wide zooms of this generation are prone to internal haze that softens contrast. Check the aperture blades for oil, work the zoom and focus rings for smoothness, and look closely at element edges for any signs of separation or coating scratches. Confirm the mount matches your camera, as Cosina sold this design in several SLR fittings.","specs":"Key specifications confirmed by the data are a 19-35mm focal range, a variable f\/3.5-4.5 maximum aperture, and multi-coated (MC) optics; further construction details are not documented in the supplied records.","faq":[{"q":"What is a Cosina 19-35mm f\/3.5-4.5 MC Zoom worth today?","a":"Based on the single verified UK auction record, one example sold for £12 hammer in 2023, so the current value at saleroom level is very low and well under typical dealer retail pricing."},{"q":"How much does a Cosina 19-35mm f\/3.5-4.5 MC Zoom sell for at auction?","a":"The only documented hammer price in our data is £12, which suggests these lenses sell for nominal sums when they appear in UK auctions, though more sales would be needed to confirm a reliable price range."},{"q":"Is the Cosina 19-35mm MC Zoom a good buy at this price?","a":"At around £12 hammer it can be a low-risk way to get an ultra-wide zoom, provided the optics are clear of fungus and haze and the focus and zoom actions are smooth."},{"q":"Does the mount affect the value of this lens?","a":"The available sales history is too limited to show a clear premium for any specific mount, so condition and optical clarity are likely the main drivers of price."}],"confidence":25,"reasoning":"Only a single sales record and no SPECS or variant data were provided, so price range, median and construction details cannot be established."}
