Leica M9-P

The Leitz/Leica M9-P is a full-frame digital rangefinder camera using the Leica M bayonet mount. It was introduced in 2011 as a more discreet variant of the M9, removing the front red dot and replacing the LCD cover with sapphire glass, and was positioned at the top of the M9 line when new.

At recent UK auction, standard M9-P bodies have achieved hammer prices roughly in the £820–£1,200 range, with a median around £1,200 based on the sales on file. Special editions sit in a completely different tier: a Hermes-edition example hammered at £16,000 in 2012. As of 2026, condition and edition status drive what an M9-P is worth today — sensor condition in particular determines how much a clean example sells for.

Sales History

Prices shown are realised prices — auction results and completed eBay sales, never asking prices. Most saleroom figures are hammer prices, before commission; some houses publish a premium-inclusive figure, and we do not adjust for condition. Dealer and retail asking prices are typically higher. Frequently asked questions

What is a Leica M9-P worth at UK auction today?

Standard bodies have sold for roughly £820 to £1,200 at hammer in recent UK sales, with clean working examples trending toward the upper end of that range.

How much does a Leica M9-P sell for compared with special editions?

A standard M9-P sells for around £1,200 at recent auction, while special editions such as the Hermes have reached £16,000, so the edition and provenance have a much larger effect on price than cosmetic condition alone.

Why does sensor condition affect the value of an M9-P?

The original CCD is known to develop corrosion, so a body with a confirmed replacement sensor generally commands a higher price than one with an untested or affected sensor.
