What it is
{"overview":"The Thornton-Pickard Junior Special Ruby Reflex is a British-made single-lens reflex plate camera from the early twentieth century, produced by the Altrincham-based firm best known for its focal-plane shutter designs. Original plate holders, a working lens and the Thornton-Pickard name plate add to value, while missing holders, detached leather or a jammed shutter pull prices toward the lower end of the range.

Questions
What affects the price of this camera the most?
Condition of the bellows and focal-plane shutter is the main driver of value, followed by completeness — a camera with its lens, plate holders and intact leather will comfortably outsell a stripped or sticky example.
Is the Junior Special Ruby Reflex a usable camera?
It can still be used with sheet film adapted to its plate holders, but the cloth focal-plane shutter is often the weak point and many examples are bought as display pieces rather than working tools.
