Asahi Pentax LX
The Asahi Pentax LX is a professional 35mm SLR introduced in 1980 to mark Pentax's 60th anniversary, and it remained in the company's line-up for roughly two decades. It was positioned as Pentax's flagship system body, built around the K bayonet mount with interchangeable viewfinders, focusing screens and motor drives, and with a weather-sealed chassis aimed at working photographers.
At recent UK auction, hammer prices for Pentax LX bodies have mostly fallen between about £130 and £500, with a median close to £240 across the last two dozen recorded sales. A handful of clean or well-kitted examples have pushed higher — one lot reached £650 in 2022 — while rougher bodies with cosmetic wear or metering issues tend to sell for £150 or less, so condition drives where a given camera lands in the range. As of today in 2026, the LX remains one of the stronger-selling Pentax film SLRs at saleroom level, and buyers researching what an LX is worth should treat these figures as wholesale results before buyer's premium rather than retail asking prices.
