Asahi Pentax ME Super
The Asahi Pentax ME Super is a compact 35mm SLR introduced in 1979 as an upgrade to the earlier ME, using the Pentax K bayonet mount. It offered aperture-priority automatic exposure alongside a manual mode driven by push-button shutter speed selection, with a top speed of 1/2000s, and was aimed at enthusiasts wanting a small, lightweight camera body.
At recent UK auction, hammer prices for the ME Super body have ranged from around £15 for rough or untested examples up to £130 for the cleanest, working copies, with a median sitting close to £50. Today in 2026 the camera sells for modest money at saleroom level — it is a common model, so buyers pay for cosmetic condition and a confirmed-working shutter rather than rarity, and kits including a 50mm lens tend to reach the upper end of that range.
