Leica Summicron-M 28mm f/2

The Leica Summicron-M 28mm f/2 ASPH is a fast wide-angle rangefinder lens for the Leica M bayonet mount, introduced in 2000 and listed in Laney's Leica Collector's Guide under catalogue number 11604. Its optical layout of 9 elements in 6 groups includes a single aspherical surface in the rear group, a design that borrows from the later 28mm f/2.8 Elmarit-M and the 35mm f/1.4 Summilux-M ASPH. At launch it was the fastest 28mm available in the M system, aimed at reportage and low-light wide-angle work where the f/2.8 Elmarit-M gave up a stop.

No UK auction hammer records are held for this lens in our sales history, so we cannot quote a verified price range, median or value figure for it as of 2026. When examples do appear at saleroom level, the factors that move what a copy sells for are completeness — the correct hood (spare catalogue number 12451) and hood cap (14013) are easily separated from the lens over time — along with glass condition and whether the lens is a current-production or early example. As soon as hammer results are recorded here, the range and median will be published on this page.

Sales History

Prices shown are realised prices — auction results and completed eBay sales, never asking prices. Most saleroom figures are hammer prices, before commission; some houses publish a premium-inclusive figure, and we do not adjust for condition. Dealer and retail asking prices are typically higher.
