Rollei Rolleiflex SLX
The Rolleiflex SLX is a 6×6 medium format single-lens reflex camera introduced by Rollei in 1976. It was one of the first medium format SLRs built around full electronic control of the lens shutter and film advance, positioned as a professional studio and location system alongside the Hasselblad V series when new.
At recent UK auction, hammer prices for the Rolleiflex SLX body have clustered in a £200–£290 range, with a median around £260 across sales between 2021 and 2024. That is where the camera is worth today at saleroom level — wholesale results rather than dealer retail — and an outlying 2009 result of £700 shows how much the market has softened as battery and electronics concerns have become better known. Clean, fully working examples with a functional battery pack sell for a clear premium over untested bodies.
