What it is
{"overview":"The Bolex C8SL is a small-format cine camera, part of Bolex's range of 8mm home-movie equipment. On that basis, in 2026 a working C8SL today tends to sell for a low two-figure sum, though condition, completeness and the presence of the original case or lens can shift the price.","buying_guide":"With any older 8mm Bolex, inspect the spring-wound mechanism for smooth running at all marked speeds, check the lens for haze, fungus and clean aperture blades, and confirm the film gate and pressure plate are clean and unscored.

Questions
Is the Bolex C8SL a good buy at this price?
At low two-figure prices it can be a reasonable entry into 8mm cine shooting, provided the spring motor runs cleanly and the lens is clear; factor in the cost and availability of 8mm film and processing before buying.
