Sinar Norma
The Sinar Norma is a modular Swiss-made large format view camera, introduced in the late 1940s and produced into the 1970s. It was designed as a studio and field monorail system supporting interchangeable 4x5 and larger formats, positioned at the professional end of the market when new.
At recent UK auction, hammer prices for the Sinar Norma have ranged from around £220 to £700, with a median near £700 based on the limited 2024–2025 results — so in today's saleroom the camera typically sells for several hundred pounds rather than the four-figure sums seen in some earlier specialist sales. Condition and completeness drive the price: a clean, working Norma with standards, rail and bellows is worth considerably more than a stripped body, which is why the 2025 range alone spans from £220 to £693.
