Contax T2

The Contax T2 is a premium 35mm compact film camera introduced by Kyocera under the Contax name in 1990, fitted with a fixed Carl Zeiss Sonnar 38mm f/2.8 T* lens and a titanium body shell. It was positioned at the top of the compact market when new, sitting alongside rivals such as the Nikon 35Ti and Leica Minilux, and has since become a sought-after point-and-shoot among film shooters, which has a strong bearing on what a T2 is worth today.

At recent UK auction, working Contax T2 bodies have sold for roughly £260 to £1,400 at the hammer, with a median around £700 across 2022–2025 results — these are wholesale saleroom prices and exclude buyer's and seller's commission. Condition is the dominant price driver in 2026: clean, fully functional examples with intact titanium finish sit at the upper end, while a heavily faulty body in the dataset sold for only £12. Prices have firmed up noticeably compared with pre-2020 results, when the same model sells-for figures were well under £650.
