Wray Wrayflex I

The Wrayflex I is a British-made 35mm SLR produced by Wray of London in the early 1950s. It was one of only a handful of 35mm single-lens reflex cameras designed and built in Britain, and used a proprietary bayonet mount for Wray's own lenses. Low production numbers have always kept surviving examples relatively scarce on the collector market.

At UK auction, hammer prices for the Wrayflex I have ranged from around £140 for tired or incomplete examples up to roughly £1,400 for outfits with extra lenses, with a median closer to £450 across recent sales. As of today in 2026 a clean body with the standard lens typically sells for £370–£630 at saleroom level, while condition and the presence of original accessories drive most of the spread in what the camera is worth. A single outlier result above £1,300 shows how much a well-specified lot with additional Wray optics can add to the price.
