Minolta X-700

The Minolta X-700 is a 35mm manual-focus SLR introduced in 1981 and positioned as the top of Minolta's X-series. It was built around the Minolta SR bayonet (MD) mount and offered program, aperture-priority and manual exposure, aimed at enthusiasts who wanted automation alongside full manual control.

At recent UK auction, hammer prices for the X-700 have ranged from about £19 to £164, with the majority of bodies selling between roughly £50 and £90 and a median around £60. The top result in this dataset, £164 in March 2025, reflects a cleaner or better-kitted example; as of 2026 most plain bodies are worth noticeably less, and values at saleroom level are highly condition-sensitive — cosmetics, a working meter and a functioning electronic shutter all affect what an X-700 sells for.
