Leitz 35mm f/3.5 Summaron
The Leitz Summaron 35mm f/3.5 is a compact manual-focus wide-angle lens for Leica rangefinder cameras, produced in screw-mount (LTM) and later bayonet M-mount versions. It was Leitz's standard moderate wide-angle of the post-war period, intended for reportage and general photography before being superseded by faster Summaron and Summicron 35mm designs. Because this listing is the unspecified variant, mount and production period affect value.
At recent UK auction, hammer prices for the 35mm f/3.5 Summaron have clustered between roughly £160 and £400, with a median around £225 from the last dozen saleroom results. Typical clean user copies sell for £170–£230, while a cleaner example at Chiswick in July 2025 fetched £302 and one standout from a dedicated Leitz sale in November 2021 reached £1,400, suggesting a rare or exceptional variant can be worth many times the norm in 2026. As of today these are wholesale hammer levels achieved in the saleroom, so retail shop prices will sit meaningfully above them.
