Ica Aerial Camera
The Ica Aerial Camera is an early 20th-century plate camera produced by the German manufacturer Ica, designed for aerial photography use. It belongs to the pre-Zeiss Ikon era of German camera production, before Ica was merged into Zeiss Ikon in 1926.
Evidence of what the Ica Aerial Camera is worth in today's market is thin: a single UK auction hammer result from August 2025 sells for £44, which sets the only recent reference point for value at saleroom level. With just one wholesale data point, the price for any individual example will swing heavily on completeness, condition and originality of fittings.
Sales History
Prices shown are UK auction hammer results — the wholesale level achieved in the saleroom. Neither buyer’s nor seller’s commission is included. Dealer and retail asking prices are typically higher.

Auction: Leitz Auction 1 (Lot AI_1_20877) Title: ICA LUFTBILD Kamera
Description:
13x18cm, focal-plane cloth shutter, mahogany constructed body, large brass carrying handle folding frame viewfinder, Voigtländer Braunschweig Heliar 1:4,5 f=36cm, lens no.1035862 and cap. Camera in very good overall condition, lacking ground-glass screen. A very rare camera and must be considered unusual for it to be constructed in wood when more durable materials were availiable and the robust requirements needed for aerial cameras may have contributed to it being unsuccessful and therefore making its production life short lived.
