Leitz Ic
The Leitz Ic is a 35mm screw-mount Leica body introduced in 1949 as a stripped-down derivative of the IIIc, supplied without a built-in rangefinder or viewfinder. It was positioned for technical, scientific and copy-stand work, with two accessory shoes on the top plate intended to carry separate finders or specialised equipment.
At recent UK auction, hammer prices for the Leitz Ic have ranged from roughly £210 to £1,900, with standard examples typically settling around a £400 median. As of today the spread is driven mainly by variant and condition: plain bodies in honest user grade trade in the low-to-mid hundreds, while scarcer factory variants and Leicavit-equipped sets are what a Leitz Ic sells for when it pushes past £1,500 at saleroom level.
