Nikon F High Speed Sapporo F-250
The Nikon F High Speed Sapporo F-250 is a specialised 35mm SLR variant of the Nikon F system, fitted with a 250-exposure bulk film back and a high-speed mirror mechanism. It was produced in very small numbers around the 1972 Sapporo Winter Olympics for press and sports photographers, making it one of the rarest professional Nikon F derivatives.
With only a single documented UK auction hammer result on file — £19,000 in December 2010 — there is no meaningful range or median to quote, and as of today the camera trades only on rare occasions at saleroom level. That hammer price reflects wholesale auction levels for collectors and excludes commission, so retail asking prices from specialist dealers can sit materially higher than what one of these sells for in the room. Anything approaching a complete, working example with documented provenance is what drives the value, and condition sensitivity is extreme given the mechanical complexity of the high-speed drive.
Sales History
Prices shown are UK auction hammer results — the wholesale level achieved in the saleroom. Neither buyer’s nor seller’s commission is included. Dealer and retail asking prices are typically higher.
