Rollei Rolleidoscop

The Rolleidoscop is a roll-film stereo camera produced by Franke & Heidecke, the German firm that later became Rollei. Introduced in the 1920s, it was positioned as a premium amateur stereoscopic instrument, pairing two matched taking lenses to record stereo image pairs on roll film. Today collectors judge its value largely by cosmetic condition, completeness of accessories, and whether the shutter and lenses remain serviceable.

At recent UK auction, hammer prices for the Rolleidoscop have spanned roughly £600–£2400, with a median around £1200 — these are saleroom wholesale results and exclude buyer's and seller's commission. The earlier part of the sample (mid-2000s) saw the strongest results above £2000, while more recent hammer prices through 2017 have clustered between £600 and £700, so a clean, functioning example still sells for a meaningful four-figure sum today but softer cosmetics have pulled prices lower. Because the camera is nearly a century old and turnover is thin, each sale price tends to reflect condition and completeness more than any headline trend.
