Rollei Rolleiflex 4x4 Baby grey

The Rolleiflex 4x4 'Baby' grey is a twin-lens reflex camera made by Franke & Heidecke, using 127 roll film to produce 4×4cm square negatives. The grey-leatherette version was introduced in the late 1950s as a smaller, lighter alternative to the 6×6 Rolleiflex, aimed at amateur photographers who wanted a compact TLR.

Hammer prices at recent UK auction place the Rolleiflex 4x4 Baby grey between roughly £60 and £120, with a median of around £94 across 2024–2025 saleroom results — wholesale levels rather than retail asking prices. In today's market the camera is worth noticeably less than its 6×6 siblings, and what it sells for turns heavily on cosmetic condition of the grey covering and whether the shutter is running accurately. An exceptional example reached £950 at Leitz Photographica in 2019, but that result is an outlier well above typical UK values.
