Canon 7

The Canon 7 is a 35mm rangefinder camera introduced in 1961, using the Leica screw mount (M39) and featuring a built-in selenium light meter. It was positioned as Canon's flagship interchangeable-lens rangefinder and is notable for accepting the Canon 50mm f/0.95 lens via a dedicated external bayonet.

At UK auction in recent years, hammer prices for the Canon 7 have ranged from around £100 for meter-worn bodies to over £4,000 for outfits including the 50mm f/0.95 lens, with a median closer to £450. In 2025 the body-only examples have sold for £100–£130 at saleroom level, while kits with premium glass continue to drive the top of the range; what the camera sells for today depends heavily on whether the f/0.95 lens is included and on the condition of the selenium meter.
