Leitz IIId
The Leitz IIId is a 35mm screw-mount rangefinder introduced in 1940, based on the IIIc body with the addition of a self-timer. Production was cut short by wartime conditions, which is why surviving examples are scarce and sought after by Leica collectors.
At recent UK auction, hammer prices for the Leitz IIId have spanned roughly £3,500 to £11,000, with a median around £4,200 at saleroom level — wholesale results that do not include buyer's or seller's commission. As of 2026 the model's value is highly condition- and provenance-sensitive: the £11,000 result achieved in 2018 reflects what an exceptional, collector-grade example sells for, while more typical bodies price in the £4,000 range today. Royal Air Force marked cameras and examples paired with the MOOLY-C motor drive tend to fetch a premium when documentation is clear.

Frequently asked questions
What is a Leitz IIId worth today?
Recent UK auction hammer results sit between roughly £3,500 and £11,000, with a median near £4,200; a typical clean example trades closer to the lower end of that range.
How much does a Leitz IIId sell for at auction?
Standard examples have sold in the £3,500–£5,000 band at hammer, while an outstanding example reached £11,000 in 2018.
Does the Royal Air Force variant affect the price?
Yes — documented RAF-marked bodies and cameras supplied with the MOOLY-C motor drive tend to command a premium over a standard IIId, though unverified military markings should be treated with caution.
