Leitz Leicaflex SL2 Mot

The Leicaflex SL2 Mot is a 35mm SLR made by Leitz in Wetzlar, a motor-drive-capable variant of the SL2 body sold in the mid-1970s. It sat at the top of the Leicaflex reflex line before the Leica R-series took over, and was positioned as a professional-grade, mechanically built camera with through-the-lens metering and Leica R-mount lenses.

At recent UK auction, hammer prices for the Leicaflex SL2 Mot have spanned roughly £370–£2,000, with a median in the high £800s and more recent saleroom results clustering around £380–£950 in 2023–2025. As of today the body is worth noticeably less than the 2005 peak, and condition sensitivity is high — cosmetically clean black bodies with a working motor sell for meaningfully more than examples missing the drive, and the rarer Tandem-set configuration commands a premium over a standard black Mot.
