Leitz M7
The Leica M7 is a 35mm rangefinder camera introduced in 2002 and the first M-series body to offer aperture-priority automatic exposure through an electronically controlled metal-bladed shutter. It uses the Leica M bayonet mount and was positioned at the top of the film M range alongside manual counterparts.
Hammer prices at recent UK auction have ranged from roughly £2,400 to £13,000, with a median around £8,200 — the wide spread reflects a sample weighted toward special editions rather than standard chrome or black bodies. The strongest saleroom results in 2024 and 2025 came from commemorative variants such as the Titanium 50th Anniversary set and Edition Hermès, while plain production examples have sold for a fraction of that. As of 2026, condition of the electronics, shutter calibration and completeness of original packaging continue to determine where an individual M7 sells within that range.

Frequently asked questions
What is a Leica M7 worth today?
At recent UK auction, M7 bodies have sold for between about £2,400 and £13,000, with a median close to £8,200, though that sample is skewed toward rare special editions.
How much does a standard Leica M7 sell for at auction?
Plain production bodies sit at the lower end of the observed price range, with a 2017 saleroom result of £2,400; titanium, Hermès and anniversary variants account for the higher hammer prices.
Why do special-edition M7 values vary so much?
Editions such as the Titanium 50th Anniversary three-lens kit, Edition Hermès and Betriebskamera were produced in small numbers, so condition, completeness and provenance can swing their value by several thousand pounds.
